Cold Springs is at higher elevation. Does that change the install?

Cold Springs sits at roughly 5,400 to 5,500 feet, several hundred feet higher than central Reno. Winter mornings run cooler and the wind tends to be stronger up there. We schedule installs with the local weather in mind and lean on polyaspartic chemistry for cold-month work because it cures down to roughly 35 to 40°F. We do not install during snow, ice events, or strong wind that would carry overspray and dust around the open garage.

Are Cold Springs slabs typically newer?

Yes. Most Cold Springs homes are 2000s or newer, with significant new construction continuing in Stonegate and the surrounding subdivisions. Newer slabs are generally easier to coat than older ones because less crack and joint repair is needed. We still grind every slab to a CSP 2 to CSP 3 profile because acid etching is never adequate, but the prep moves quickly on a clean, newer Cold Springs slab.

Does Cold Springs get more snow than Reno?

Cold Springs typically picks up more snow per storm than central Reno because of the higher elevation. More snow tracked into the garage during winter means more potential for freeze-thaw damage on the slab. That makes a properly prepped and topcoated floor coating even more valuable in Cold Springs - the sealed surface keeps snowmelt from reaching the concrete underneath.
